Did you know that most Mates work for tips.  That's right !!  Please be generous to your mate if he work for you.  He should be pleasant and knowledgeable.  He should be a teacher not a holler.  He should try to answer all your questions without being surly.  15 to 20% of the charter price is normal for a good mate.  If for some reason, you were not pleased with the Mate or Captain, let them know - be specific - most of us will appreciate it.  Remember, the Mate or Captain cannot make the fish bite and their day is much much harder when they decide not to bite.  Tight lines and Screaming reels !!!
